WELCOME!

This is a "first" for me, so I ask that you please bear with the initial set up and creation of this blog.....your patience and attendance here are appreciated!

This blog is intended as a personal project to share with you poems and daily quotations that were written by my mother. She was called "Home" in March of 2010, overtaken by lung cancer. I took on the task of opening her life through the treasures she left behind. In doing so, I came upon a box full of poetry that she had written over the years of my life, as well as her "daily quotes" that she would just jot down at a moment's notice.

My mother inspired my love for poetry from a young age, as well as assisting me in what I perceived as the challenge of writing my thoughts and feelings down on paper. From time to time you may notice a few of my own here, nestled gently in with hers.

I hope that you enjoy what you find here.....feel free to share them, for this is my gift to her and you; the pleasure, comfort and at times humor in the writings of another.

Happy Birthday!

Today would have been my mother's 71st birthday, had she not lost her battle with lung cancer this past March.  The posting for today resembles her love for the nature of Yellowstone, as well as her enduring affection for the mighty grizzly bear.

I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to discover the inner beauty of the being that was my mother.  I miss her dearly, yet know in my heart that the splendor in which she now dwells has truly fulfilled her soul.

SAVAGE WONDER

With savage beauty
the awesome grizzly
rears her mighty head

Then rises slowly
sniffing the wind
from her meadow bed
She looks around
for the sound
that disturbed her sleep

On enormous paws
she ambles round
throaty growl so deep
Finding no danger
she settled down
returning to her bed

The mighty grizzly
so gentle now
cradles baby near her head

Continuation....

I am continuing with the poems from Yellowstone, as this week brings my mother's birthday on Wednesday, and since Yellowstone was so dear to her heart, I feel it only fit to honor it with this tribute.  I hope you continue to visit here, and are finding pleasure in what you find posted!

CLEANSING OF THE SOUL

Yellowstone's an awesome place
with wonders to behold
the sights and sounds
are magic to a
heart that's growing old

Old and tired
of the strife
each day we must endure
a balm that fills
our soul with hope
and meaning to our life
