WELCOME!

This is a "first" for me, so I ask that you please bear with the initial set up and creation of this blog.....your patience and attendance here are appreciated!

This blog is intended as a personal project to share with you poems and daily quotations that were written by my mother. She was called "Home" in March of 2010, overtaken by lung cancer. I took on the task of opening her life through the treasures she left behind. In doing so, I came upon a box full of poetry that she had written over the years of my life, as well as her "daily quotes" that she would just jot down at a moment's notice.

My mother inspired my love for poetry from a young age, as well as assisting me in what I perceived as the challenge of writing my thoughts and feelings down on paper. From time to time you may notice a few of my own here, nestled gently in with hers.

I hope that you enjoy what you find here.....feel free to share them, for this is my gift to her and you; the pleasure, comfort and at times humor in the writings of another.

DEAR TEACHER

The things in school are so strange
And you stand so straight and tall;
If you could be inside of me
I know that you'd feel small

The kids in other grades are big
And, gee, they're so much bolder;
I hope to be the same as them
When I get another year older

So, please try to understand
If I make noise and shout;
I'm really not a naughty boy
Although sometimes I pout

I'm just trying to find out
What you want me to do;
And if I've made mistakes sometimes
You'll forgive me please, won't you?
