WELCOME!

This is a "first" for me, so I ask that you please bear with the initial set up and creation of this blog.....your patience and attendance here are appreciated!

This blog is intended as a personal project to share with you poems and daily quotations that were written by my mother. She was called "Home" in March of 2010, overtaken by lung cancer. I took on the task of opening her life through the treasures she left behind. In doing so, I came upon a box full of poetry that she had written over the years of my life, as well as her "daily quotes" that she would just jot down at a moment's notice.

My mother inspired my love for poetry from a young age, as well as assisting me in what I perceived as the challenge of writing my thoughts and feelings down on paper. From time to time you may notice a few of my own here, nestled gently in with hers.

I hope that you enjoy what you find here.....feel free to share them, for this is my gift to her and you; the pleasure, comfort and at times humor in the writings of another.

I WANT TO GO HOME

Dear God, I am so weary
my mind is filled with pain;
The boy beside me's lying dead
his body's drenched with rain

As darkness closes in on me
please touch me with Thy hand;
Deliver me from this cruel place
return me to my land

My heart is full of things
my eyes will no longer see;
But, Lord, guide me safely home
this war is through with me
