It's time to think of simple things
like apple cores and onion rings;
Strolling barefoot on the beach
a juicy pear,just out of reach
Like tiny trees that soon will grow
an empty field that's white with snow;
A flock of slowly grazing sheep
a tiny babe that's gone to sleep
A bird, a flower, a falling star
a bicycle and a noisy car;
Gardens wrapped in morning dew
a puppy playing with a shoe
Rain falling softly on the trees
a nest of busy honey bees;
A bathtub filled up to the top
shining floors and a dirty mop
Homemade soup bubbling in a pan
the insistent tug of a small child's hand;
The dog that barks as the doorbell rings
these are all life's simplest things

WELCOME!
This is a "first" for me, so I ask that you please bear with the initial set up and creation of this blog.....your patience and attendance here are appreciated!
This blog is intended as a personal project to share with you poems and daily quotations that were written by my mother. She was called "Home" in March of 2010, overtaken by lung cancer. I took on the task of opening her life through the treasures she left behind. In doing so, I came upon a box full of poetry that she had written over the years of my life, as well as her "daily quotes" that she would just jot down at a moment's notice.
My mother inspired my love for poetry from a young age, as well as assisting me in what I perceived as the challenge of writing my thoughts and feelings down on paper. From time to time you may notice a few of my own here, nestled gently in with hers.
I hope that you enjoy what you find here.....feel free to share them, for this is my gift to her and you; the pleasure, comfort and at times humor in the writings of another.
